De Loach, 'Heritage Collection' Zinfandel 2020
Product Information
Finding a good value, well made Zinfandel is no mean feat. The Californians tend to export the bottom feeder stuff as well the extortionately expensive stuff and keep the brilliant value, well priced bottles for themselves. DeLoach is an exception here! Elegant and medium bodied with the trademark black brambly fruit and blueberries, with supporting cherry notes. Only a small portion of this wine sees oak, adding body and spice. Fresh, juicy and well made. Established by the DeLoach Family from San Francisco in 1973, the estate was purchased by Burgundian wine maker Jean Claude Boisset in 2003. He saw similarities between his native Burgundy and the Russian River Valley and saw potential to grow native Burgundian Varieties Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. He converted all 7 hectares of the land surrounding the winery to biodynamic farming to produce the best quality wines possible. He also started trialing some native Californian zinfandel to great success.
