Compared to the village ‘old vine’, this premier cru is more structured, vigorous, punchy. This is quite dense, with plum, earth, spice and a brooding, 'sauvage'-like nose. Excellent detail, ample and a supple tannic spine that is beautifully soft and supple. This is a ripe, pure, ‘old-school’ Burgundy in the sense that there is a rather deep core of black cherry fruit with a touch of earth, a little minerality, and a pleasing little bit of rustic chewiness to the finishing tannins.
