La Maldición Malvar resurrects Madrid's forgotten indigenous Malvar grape through traditional, uncompromising winemaking. This captivating orange wine gleams with juicy golden hues while offering aromatic complexity of delicate floral notes, green tea, and dried apricots. Fermented with skins and stems in the ancestral style, it delivers a structured palate with fine acidity and textural grip. Medium-bodied with distinctive spice characteristics, this authentic expression echoes the rustic table wines enjoyed by local farmers a century ago.
La Maldición represents the independent vision of Marc Isart, the brilliant winemaker behind renowned Bernabeleva. Through his Bodegas Cinco Leguas project, Isart champions Madrid's viticultural heritage with unwavering dedication to traditional methods. Embracing a decidedly lo-fi philosophy, he works with old vines planted on challenging terrain, foregoing modern interventions—no commercial yeasts, temperature control, enzymes, or chemical additions. Instead, Isart crafts wines of profound character and authenticity, allowing each bottle to express the true essence of Madrid's overlooked winegrowing tradition. His commitment to indigenous varieties and minimalist winemaking results in wines of distinctive personality and historical significance.
