Frionne expresses crunchy pear and small notes of crushed lemon associated with very subtle hints of quince. (Limestone soil here, which is very evident). Lime, pebbles, honeysuckle. Intense, chiselled mouth, with a nice salivating bitter attack that leaves you wanting more. Both acidities and fruit are generously ripe. This is more Puligny than Chassagne in style. This is an estate to watch. Florent Moingeon is the 3rd generation to manage the estate, joining his father and uncle in 2009. He has been responsible for introducing dramatic changes; introducing homeopathic soil management, lower density plantings, lower yields and new canopy management. The resulting wines are strikingly fresh with great energy and a heightened focus on minerality.
