Description
Deep crimson in the glass, this Lirac is generous yet elegant, showing ripe strawberries, blackberries and a touch of redcurrant. The palate is velvety with fresh acidity, layered with plums, dark cherries and a whisper of garrigue herbs and spice. Soft tannins and a mellow, lingering finish make this an inviting Rhône red with rustic soul and remarkable value compared to its famous neighbour across the river.
Moulin des Chênes is part of the Bréchet family’s portfolio, also known for the acclaimed Château de Vaudieu in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. When Laurent and Julien Bréchet took over this 25-hectare estate, they saw the potential of Lirac’s stony galet-strewn soils and Mediterranean climate. Winemaker Philippe Cambie has brought his expertise to the project, favouring minimal intervention, concrete vat ageing and a focus on purity of fruit. With its old vines, sustainable practices and strong sense of place, Moulin des Chênes highlights why Lirac is one of the Rhône’s most exciting and best-value appellations today.
