Description
Philippe Milan et Fils' Pommard hails from a vineyard near Volnay, offering an elegant and refined style rather than sheer power. The palate is generous with cherry and strawberry notes, complemented by well-integrated oak. The finish is long and juicy, with lingering chewy tannins. This wine, made from 100% Pinot Noir and aged in oak (25% new), leans towards a "vin de garde" style, meant for aging. It pairs beautifully with food or benefits from some time in a decanter.
Domaine Philippe Milan et Fils was founded in the 1950s, at only 11-hectares, they primarily sell 90% of its production within France. Karl-Philippe practices lutte raisonnée in the vineyards, using minimal or no new oak to maintain the lively fruitiness of the wines. The proximity of their Pommard parcel to Volnay is evident in its structure and style, reminiscent of Volnay's finesse and complexity.
