Description
Although Sérafin is based in Gevrey Chambertin, they have two plots in this well-regarded Premier Cru, just below Clos St Denis. The vineyard’s signature flavours are of juicy, blueberry fruit typical of Morey while cushioning it in a plump, silky texture. Its a very sought after 1er Cru produced in miniscule quantities. This wine is produced in the town of Morey St Denis. Their wines are known to be more fruit forward than wines made in the wider Gevrey Chambertin area yet more structured than those of Chambolle Musigny. They offer velvety tannins and black forest fruits, with a medium body and a rich luscious finish. Domaine Sérafin was founded by Stanislaus Sérafin in 1947. His son Christian inherited the domaine in 1988, and has now passed it along to his daughter Karin and his niece Frédérique. The house and cellars are located near the village of Gevrey-Chambertin and the estate consists of about five hectares of vines spread across three appellations, including Grand Cru, Premier Cru, village and regional parcels.
