This is so so good! If you have never tried a Georgian red wine, producer Bedoba has set the bar very high. This is a rich and full bodied red bursting with dark fruits, herbs, mocha, caramel and chocolatey tones. A wine that would be perfect on a cold evening in front of the fire, or in the summer with a BBQ. Definitely a wine for wine lovers. Made from indigenous Georgian grape 'Saperavi' in Georgia's most renowned wine region Kakheti, this wine is definitely for the curious wine drinker. Partially fermented in ancient traditional clay pots called Quervi and stainless steel tanks, the winemakers Nugzar Ksovreli and Thierry Fontannaz combine tradition with innovation to create super interesting, delicious wines.

Portuguese wines are some of the best value reds on the market and this field blend from Alentejo is now exception. Dark fruit like blackberries and blackcurrants are layered with spice and a gorgeous texture. This is a bombshell wine, a real cracker! One of the main grapes in the blend here is Alicante Bouschet, a very unique grape in the wine world as the pulp is dark in colour. It adds depth and perfume to this outstanding wine. 'Trinca Bolotas' meaning acorn muncher is a nod to the acorn munching Iberian pigs that are native to the area. Alentejo produces superb red wines made from the regions native grape varieties, Alicante Bouschet, Aragonez and Touriga Nacional.

A medium-full bodied red wine that is reminiscent of Premium Australian Shiraz. It has those rich and spicy red fruit flavours like a raspberry tart. Despite the robust nature of the wine, it is very refreshing and has a silky, velvety mouthfeel. This is definitely a wine for those who love Australian Shiraz for its big, bold flavours. This is instant gratification in a glass. Priorat is a mecca for those who love big red wines. The rugged landscape and intense heat produces old vine Garnacha worthy of its price tag.  The owner here, Alfredo Arribas, is one of the rising stars of the region, having spent the start of his working life as an architect. Vibrant red in colour, with aromas of red and black cherries, plums and black olives. This medium bodied red has a silky texture, fine tannins and a fresh acidity. Perfect with grilled lamb cutlets, or roast pork loin. A gorgeous wine produced by icons of the Irish wine industry in France; Simon Tyrrell and Gerard Maguire are joined by Charles Derain for this exciting wine project in the Cotes du Rhone. The vineyards are all either organic or in the process of conversion with some biodynamic practices included. The vineyards have been carefully selected on cooler elevated sites and harvesting is all done by hand and carried out a least a week earlier than the surrounding estates resulting in fresh, juicy and mouth-watering wines. Fermented using natural yeasts in cement tanks with a blend of 55% Grenache and 45% Syrah. Only around 9,000 bottles are made annually.

This Negroamaro is a full bodied glass of brambly black fruit with intense flavours of blackberries and blackcurrants. The velvety texture, lovely balance and savoury spice notes are very hard to resist. This is an excellent example of why Southern Italian reds are so popular.  It offers serious value for money and over-delivers at the price point! Excellent with or without food, and the perfect wine to enjoy on a Friday night. The winemakers have been making wine in Puglia for over twenty years, and their philosophy is to let the fruit shine with minimal technical intervention. This is something which you can taste in every glass.

Oh my god, give me more! This wine really delivers on what you expect from a Gran Reserva. Its a full-on, rich and unctuous wine that will stain your lips. Dark red fruit layered with caramel, mocha and vanilla flavours. This  is a great wine either as a treat for yourself, or as a gift for someone special. Although El Coto is a young winery by Rioja standards, having been founded in 1970, it is one of the most well recognised ones globally due to the excellent value for money at all levels. Gran Reservas are only produced in exceptional years and this 2018 is worth waiting for.
