Description
This is Pinot Noir with real presence, from one of the best vineyard sites in Santenay. Juicy, dark cherry and blackcurrant fruit meets fresher red berry tones and a whisper of spice, all layered in a silky, fine-grained structure. The palate is velvety yet lifted, with great energy and depth thanks to old vines and thoughtful winemaking.
The ‘Clos des Hates’ is a 1.5-hectare walled vineyard at the heart of Santenay village, surrounded by Premier Cru plots and planted with vines as old as 1935. Domaine Bachey-Legros, run by Christiane and her sons Lénaïc and Samuel, has been in the same family for six generations. Their 16-hectare estate spans Santenay, Maranges and Chassagne-Montrachet, and they are known for picking late to ensure optimal ripeness. Vinified in stainless steel and matured in oak, their wines combine precision with richness, making them a standout choice for both classic Burgundy lovers and fans of plush New World Pinot.
