Godello
Godello is one of Spain's most exciting and underrated white grapes. Native to Galicia and the neighbouring region of Bierzo in north-west Spain, it was nearly extinct by the 1970s before a handful of dedicated producers rescued it from oblivion. Today it is recognised as one of the Iberian Peninsula's finest white varieties, producing wines of real complexity, texture and mineral depth. Expect ripe stone fruit, citrus zest, a rich, rounded palate and a long, elegant finish. A brilliant alternative to white Burgundy at a fraction of the price.
