A Portuguese Wine Adventure features 6 premium wines showcasing the best of what Portugal produces. The selection highlights their sumptuous velvety red wines, a gorgeous Vinho Verde that will impress any Albarino lover, and a sparkling wine from coastal Portugal which easily rivals Champagne.

We love this premium selection and are confident that you will too, and that's why we have given it our 5 Star rating.

This box contains one of each of the following

2 x WHITE: Cazas Novas Avesso, Vinho Verde
A gorgeous Vinho Verde that is very different to the most we are familiar with. It is less tart and dry, and more about the round ripe orchard fruit like peaches and apricots. This 100% Avesso from Vinho Verde, Portugal, is a bright, zesty gem. It’s medium-bodied with a lovely texture that’s supported by juicy fruit, leading to a crisp, energetic finish that leaves you wanting more.

2x RED: Herdade do Peso, 'Trinca Bolotas' Alentejo
Portuguese wines are some of the best value reds on the market and this field blend from Alentejo is now exception. Dark fruit like blackberries and blackcurrants are layered with spice and a gorgeous texture. This is a bombshell wine, a real cracker!

1 x RED: Casa Da Passarella 'A Descoberta', Dao
Another cracker of a wine from the Dao region in Portugal, and an ideal wine for those who drink Malbec and are unsure of where to look for good alternatives. It is medium to full bodied with intense dark fruit flavours and a silky mouthfeel. As soon as we tasted this, we knew it was a perfect wine for all you guys who love big wines that pair with robust foods.

1 x RED: Vertente, Niepoort, Douro
WOW. This is a masterclass in winemaking, and the Bordeaux lover will love this Vertente is a stunningly elegant and complex wine that beautifully captures the bold fruit and concentration you expect from Douro wines, while still delivering that signature freshness Niepoort is known for. It’s the perfect balance of power and finesse.

Herdade do Peso, 'Trinca Bolotas' Alentejo Tinto 2021
Herdade do Peso, 'Trinca Bolotas' Alentejo Tinto 2022
Portuguese wines are some of the best value reds on the market and this field blend from Alentejo is now exception. Dark fruit like blackberries and blackcurrants are layered with spice and a gorgeous texture. This is a bombshell wine, a real cracker! One of the main grapes in the blend here is Alicante Bouschet, a very unique grape in the wine world as the pulp is dark in colour. It adds depth and perfume to this outstanding wine. 'Trinca Bolotas' meaning acorn muncher is a nod to the acorn munching Iberian pigs that are native to the area. Alentejo produces superb red wines made from the regions native grape varieties, Alicante Bouschet, Aragonez and Touriga Nacional.

Cazas Novas Avesso, Vinho Verde
A gorgeous Vinho Verde that is very different to the most we are familiar with. It is less tart and dry, and more about the round ripe orchard fruit like peaches and apricots. This 100% Avesso from Vinho Verde, Portugal, is a bright, zesty gem. In the glass, it’s a gorgeous citrus-straw color, immediately pulling you in with vibrant aromas of white fruit and delicate floral notes. The first sip is all about balance—freshness, minerality, and acidity perfectly in harmony. It’s medium-bodied with a lovely texture that’s supported by juicy fruit, leading to a crisp, energetic finish that leaves you wanting more. Fermented in stainless steel and aged on fine lees for four months with batonnage, this wine has a depth that pairs beautifully with seafood dishes, light pastas, or semi-cured cheeses. Serve it chilled between 7-10°C and let it brighten up your day with its clean, refreshing style.

Vertente, Niepoort, Douro Tinto 2020
Vertente, Niepoort, Douro Tinto 2020
WOW. This is a masterclass in winemaking, and the Bordeaux lover will love this! Vertente is a stunningly elegant and complex wine that beautifully captures the bold fruit and concentration you expect from Douro wines, while still delivering that signature freshness Niepoort is known for. It’s the perfect balance of power and finesse. Most of the grapes come from 60-year-old vines on the right bank of the Douro River, with a smaller portion from 30-year-old vines in the Tedo River Valley at Quinta de Nápoles. The result? A wine that’s bursting with character, yet refined and refreshingly vibrant. An absolute must-try for anyone who loves a bit of depth in their glass.
