Description
Verdicchio is considered Italy's finest indigenous white grape due to its aging potential and versatility, as will as its complex and nuanced flavours. We love the texture, which is weighty and intense, combined with the flavours of honey, flower blossoms and Chablis-like minerality. A wonderful example of how Italian whites have much more to offer than Pinot Grigio! The Cantine Belisario co-operative was founded in 1971. There are two zones in Marche which produce Verdicchio, Verdicchio in the Matelica DOC, a Castello di Jesi, which is the larger of the two. The climate here is more continental than in Castelli di Jesi and the combination of warm days and cool nights gives a longer growing season, and lovely aromatic qualities to the wines.
