This wine boasts a deep ruby colour and an elegant nose with aromas of dark fruit, toasted bread, and liquorice. On the palate, it is unctuous and smooth, with a fresh aromatic profile where blackberry, cherry, and cassis mingle with hints of toast and smokiness. The superb structure and balance, free from over-ripeness or excessive oak, reflect the meticulous care taken from vineyard to bottle. This wine embodies great value and is a true representation of the Bertrand family's dedication to their craft.Jacques Bertrand, along with his three children Anne-Marie, Bruno, and Catherine, meticulously manages the family-owned Château Carteau Côtes Daugay estate, nestled on the south-western slopes of Daugay. The vineyard, spanning 16 hectares, benefits from limestone-rich soils that are perfectly suited to their Merlot (65%), Cabernet Franc (30%), and Cabernet Sauvignon vines, averaging 30 years of age.

A robust Rioja, with rich red fruit and a big structure. Not for the faint-hearted, its a big glass of wine, but a very elegant one at that. Remelluri is the family estate of Telmo Rodriguez, a man who is considered one of the best wine makers in Spain. Having worked in Bordeaux, Rhone and Provence, he returned to Spain to his beloved Remelluri. Lindes de Remelluri means “the borders of Remelluri.” This wine is made from grapes grown by local farmers in the town of San Sonsierra, which are close to the main Remelluri estate. Telmo wanted to honour the old family contracts which had been in place for so long and created a separate label for them.

The palate is bright, fresh, and creamy, with a silky texture and beautifully balanced acidity that leads to a long, mouth-watering finish. It’s exciting, delicious, and the kind of wine that makes you wonder why you don’t drink Albariño all the time. Terras Gauda is one of Galicia’s most respected producers, and while this is their entry-level wine, it punches well above its weight. A key reason for its consistency and quality is that the winery owns over two-thirds of the vineyards they source from—rare in a region where vineyard ownership is incredibly fragmented. This allows them to control every step of the process, ensuring that every vintage delivers the same lively, aromatic, and utterly delicious Albariño that fans have come to love.
