Description
Warm, round, soft and seductive, this is a very easy drinking style of Montepulciano. Wild strawberries and raspberries are layered with hints of vanilla and chocolate to make a wine that delivers instant gratification. A new one for us to add to the website and its a great value for money red from Southern Italy. This is a great alternative to those who are partial to a glass of Malbec.
Il Faggio derives from the Italian for Beech Trees, which are as much a symbol of Abruzzo, as the Montepulciano grape itself. This wine is produced by Matt Thomson who is one of New Zealand's superstar winemakers. For 30 years he has spent half the year in Italy consulting on his Italian wine projects, and the other half at home in new Zealand working on his wine projects there.
