About Les Rafelieres Sauvignon Blanc, Loire
If you love a classic, zesty Sauvignon Blanc, this Les Rafelières is one to try. It opens with gooseberry, freshly cut grass and a hint of citrus, leading into a palate of gooseberry, lime and green apple, fresh and true to variety without being overpowering. If you've ever enjoyed a Sancerre or Pouilly-Fumé, you'll recognise the style here, just at a much friendlier price. It's a lovely match for steamed fish, prawns or scallops, and works just as well with leafy salads, goat's cheese or asparagus.
Les Rafelières comes from Maison Sauvion, one of the most respected names in the Loire Valley, sometimes described as the house behind the "haute couture" of Loire wines. While their Château du Cléray sits at the top end of Muscadet, Les Rafelières was created for something more relaxed, an uncomplicated, expertly made varietal wine under the IGP Val de Loire. Sauvion has built a reputation for blending old world tradition with modern winemaking, and today exports to over 80 countries, with their wines gracing some of the finest restaurant lists in the world.
