Amarone Wines
Amarone della Valpolicella is one of Italy's most majestic and powerful wines. Made in the Veneto region from partially dried Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara grapes, Amarone is a wine of extraordinary concentration, depth and complexity. The drying process, known as appassimento, reduces the grapes to raisins over several months, intensifying sugars, flavours and tannins before fermentation. The result is a rich, full-bodied red with layers of dark cherry, chocolate, dried fig, leather and spice, and an alcohol level that commands respect. Age-worthy and genuinely impressive, Amarone is a wine for special occasions and long, slow evenings with good food and good company.
