Description
An absolute must for those who love Burgundy white and the Chardonnay grape. Savoie is located further south, towards the Swiss and Italian borders, and although you won't find any Chardonnay here, you will find wines that are Chardonnay in flavour profile without the big price tag. This easily is a 5 star wine, I would give it 6 if the scale went that far! Gorgeous and ripe with a aromas of citrus fruits, chamomile, meadow flowers and an irresistible creamy texture. You won't find oak here, the wine is aged on its lees in concrete, so its all about the fresh fruit intensity. There are sixteen villages in the Savoie, all of which have higher standards than those of the Vin de Savoie AC and Roussette de Savoie AC and may append their name to either of these appellations if their wines meet these higher criteria. One of the best of these crus is Frangy.
