Description
A legend of Italy and one of Chianti's leading producers. 100% Sangiovese aged in French oak barriques, it has layered flavours of sour cherry and plums leading to notes of leather and tobacco. Huge depth, juicy fruit and a silky texture, what more can you ask for. This wine has an abundance of black cherry notes with fine grained tannins and vibrant acidity. Although delicious now, this will be one for the cellar as well. Organic and biodynamic. The Manetti family have been in Tuscany for centuries and have owned the Fontodi property since 1969. Though they have always made wine and the current generation is Giovanni Manetti, who has run the property since 1980. The vineyards are located in Panzano's amphitheatre-like Conca d'Oro (Golden Shell) which has a reputation of being the best zone in Chianti Classico having perfect exposure and elevation. The proof is in the pudding and the wine is luxurious.
