About Lacuesta Vermouth Rosso Reserva, Spain
Martinez Lacuesta Reserva Vermouth is a richer, deeper and more layered style of Spanish vermouth, with the key difference between the Blanco and the Reserva being the addition of caramel, which brings colour, warmth and a more bittersweet profile. Aged for seven months in seasoned French oak barrels, this vermouth is smoother, spicier and more savoury, with notes of dried orange peel, baking spice, cola nut, herbs and roasted nuts unfolding across the palate. The oak ageing softens the texture beautifully, giving the wine a silky, rounded feel balanced by gentle bitterness and freshness on the finish. Served over ice with an orange slice, it is the perfect aperitif for lovers of Negronis, amaro or classic European aperitivo culture.
Martinez Lacuesta has been producing vermouth in Rioja since 1937, with the origins of the recipe linked to the difficult years surrounding the Spanish Civil War. The Lacuesta family acquired the original formula through local connections and began refining it in Haro, where it quickly became part of the aperitivo culture of Northern Spain.
